Link reblogged from Resist 26!
On Saturday 26th March the Trades Union Congress has called for a march against the cuts, and there is going to be a South London feeder march starting at Kennington Park which we will be joining. South London is one of the areas to be hardest hit by the cuts and has seen some of the most inspiring resistance to their implementation with the storming and occupying of town halls, the occupying of libraries and university buildings along with large demonstrations and regular small actions. Anarchists have played a key role in these struggles arguing that we fight the cuts based on the principles of solidarity, direct action, and self-organisation. We are calling on anarchists, libertarian communists and militant workers from across the country who agree with these principles to join us on the demonstration to provide a visible presence and a revolutionary alternative to the reformism of the TUC.
With sufficient rank-and-file anger, the trade unions may be pushed into calling a general strike – only the second in British history. However, it’s us, not the union bosses who can stop the cuts. All reformist unions can offer us is sellouts like Aaron Porter from the NUS. We can’t put our faith in anything other than our own solidarity and ability to organise. We must take a lead in organising action ourselves rather than waiting on the TUC or anyone else to do it for us.
We also intend to argue that it is capitalism that has caused the crisis that has led to these cuts and that in response to their class war we need to reciprocate: meeting cuts with direct action - strikes, occupations and civil disobedience - whilst fighting for a different world which puts human needs first.
Bring red and black flags, banners and propaganda. The workers movement needs anarchist ideas and methods more than ever if we’re to beat the cuts.
Meet at 11am Kennington Park, South London.
Called by South London Solidarity Federation and the Anarchist Federation.
Posters:
Yes, I will be there for sure.
Don’t forget to mention that Kennington Park was where the Chartists had the biggest rally. It already has a history of being important in the working class struggle and we’re going to keep that history alive!
I off to join Peckham Library as I just found out it stocks Homage to Catalonia by George Orwell, which I’ve been wanting to read for ages. Never been so excited to join a library.

Stand up, We shall not be moved, Except By a child with no socks and shoes.
If you’ve got more to give then you’ve got to prove,
Put your hands up and I’ll copy you.
Stand up We shall not be moved, Except by a woman dying from a loss of food.
If you’ve got more to give then you’ve got to prove,
Put your hands up and I’ll copy you.Under water but we still don’t understand,
We see hurricane spills overrun the land,
Through gaps you couldn’t fill with a 100 tons of sand,
No we still don’t understand,
We’ve seen planes in the windows of buildings crumbled in,
We’ve seen flames send the chills through London,
And we’ve sent planes to kill them and some of them were children,
But still we crumbling the building,
Underfunded but we still don’t understand,
Under God but we kill like the son of Uncle Sam.
But if you feel like I feel like about the son of man,
We will overcome.Stand up, We shall not be moved,
Except By a child with no socks and shoes.
If you’ve got more to give then you’ve got to prove,
Put your hands up and I’ll copy you.
Stand up We shall not be moved,
Except by a woman dying from a loss of food.
If you’ve got more to give then you’ve got to prove,
Put your hands up and I’ll copy you…We shall not be moved, Except By a child with no socks and shoes,
Except by a woman dying from a loss of food,
Except by a freedom fighter bleeding on a cross for you,
We shall not be moved, Except by a system thats rotten through,
Neglecting the victims and ordering the cops to shoot,
High treason now we need to prosecute. So Stand up, We shall not be moved, and we won’t fight a war for fossil fuel.
Its times like this that you want to plot a coup,
Put your hands up and I’ll copy you. So Stand up, We shall not be moved,
Unless were taking a route we have not pursued,
So if you’ve got a dream and a lot to do,
Put your hands up and I’ll copy you…Now shake, shake A Polaroid dream, nightmare negatives develop on the screen,
We sit back and wait for the government team,
Criticize they but who the fuck are we,
The people want peace but the leaders want war.
Our neighbors don’t speak, peek through the front door,
House representatives preach “stay the course”,
Time for a leap of faith, Once More.Put your hands up high if you haven’t abandoned,
Hope that the pen strokes stronger than the cannon,
Balls to the wall, Nose to the grindstone,
My interrogation techniques leave your mind blown,
So Place your bets lets speak to the enemy,
Don’t let em pretend that we seek blood,
And who’s ‘we’ anyways, Kemo Sabe?
Mighty warlord wanna-be street thug,
a threat for a threat leaves the whole world terrified,
blow for blow never settles the score,
word for word is time need clarify,wWe the people did not want war.So Stand up, We shall not be moved, except By a child with no socks and shoes.
If you’ve got more to give then you’ve got to prove,
Put your hands up and I’ll copy you.
Unless were taking a route we have not pursued,
So if you’ve got a dream and a lot to do, Put your hands up and I’ll copy you.So Stand up, We shall not be moved, and we won’t fight a war for fossil fuel.

Bottled water is my #1 pet peeve.
It’s really discouraging to see so many people in public with plastic water bottles. People know this stuff is probably the greatest modern era con, right? Bottled water comes in Polyethylene terephthalate bottles, which is rarely recycled and requires a great deal of energy to produce. Don’t forget that it costs more than gasoline, while you could be getting the same amount of tap water for less than a penny. The majority of these horrendous costs are attributed to the packaging, not the actual water, of which is no more healthy than tap water in most regions. In fact, a countless number of studies have found considerable amounts of bacteria to be prevalent in many popular brands of bottled waters. So, why do we continue to buy this junk? What’s the point?
Empower yourself. Bottle your own water.
I was raised in a house that never ever ever bought bottled water because we were lucky enough to have “healthy, clean, drinkable water”, as my father always put it. If we ended up with a bottle of water, he would lecture us. To this day, I still do not buy bottled water. We have a water purifier, but that’s it.
I was really disappointed with how much bottled water I was buying so I bought a Brita Pitcher. It was the greatest purchase I’ve ever made.
I hate myself on those rare occasions I’m away from home and end up buying water because desperately need a drink.
I usually carry a bottle of water with me filled from home so might actually look like I’ve bought it when I haven’t

My 12yr old son came out to me on Tuesday night.
The look of fear, pride, and relief in his eyes was something I can’t explain.
I love this little boy.
I’ve looked up to him since the day he could dance and sing across my living room.
Or the day he asked for his first BRATS doll and an XBOX 360 at the same time.
And the day he told me “This is who I am and I don’t care what anyone thinks….as long as you love me.”
I love this little boy.
He always knew who he was..and I did too.
I waited.
It’s funny the relief I felt by just hearing it come out of his mouth.
It’s scary the fear I feel for the friends and family we will lose.
I’m proud to be this boy’s mother and respect his strength and confidence for that will be what gets him through these growing years.
PEACE, LOVE and BLESSINGS new friends…for this is all we have in life:)
TEARS IN MY EYES. So beautiful.

Today, somebody took the Seattle Times out of the Seattle newspaper boxes, and replaced the display copies with these copies. I’m really proud at how much Seattle citizens have been fighting against police brutality lately.
wow this is amazing! hello.
[image description: a Seattle Times newspaper box with a fake but realistic newspaper inside. The headline reads “‘We’re killing everybody we can,’ Seattle Police declare,” with a photo of a crime scene. On the side are photos of two people with a caption below each that says, “shot dead.”]
This is amazing. I love radical pranks.
Very cool.
